In my current function I can do all the things I like, from the daily animal care to managing my team and even fieldwork every now and then.
Biografie
I wanted to work with animals since I was young. Very cliche but true nonetheless. And in my opinion, if I wanted to work with them I should also know how to take care of them, so I started with MBO Animal Care at Groenhorst College (now Aeres) in Barneveld. But although I like the practical work, I wanted to do more so I went on to study Animal Management at Van Hall Larenstein in Leeuwarden.
I did my internship here at NIOO in 2017 and two years later I applied for a job as animal caretaker. Since 2021 I am head of the animal caretakers and in charge of the daily care, the handrearing and everything else that comes with it. And when time alowes it I can even do a little bit of fieldwork! If I have noticed something in the past years is that no year is the same.
