I started out as a Biology student. Halfway through studying for this bachelor's degree at Utrecht University I found out research was not the place for me. I was and still am very interested in how nature works, in the broadest sense of the field. While studying for my master's degree in Bio Inspired Innovation I found science communication to be the perfect combination of learning new things about biology and using my skills to do something with this knowledge.
After learning more about the field of communications I came to NIOO to combine these experiences. My work at NIOO lets me learn more about the scientific subjects I am so interested in, and to translate the expertise so more people can use and learn from it. I now focus on writing accessible texts about the research done at NIOO, keeping our website up to date, and guide citizen science and other science communication projects.
