About

The main focus of my research is the impact of environmental drivers on the spatial population trends of birds and other organisms. I am interested in modelling frameworks that can inform conservation management and the control of invasive species.

Biography

For instance, in the project Cumulative Human Impact on biRd Populations (CHIRP; http://www.chirpscholekster.nl/) we study the integrated effect of various environmental drivers on the migratory network and population dynamics of oystercatchers. This type of research is enabled through collaboration within the inter-institutional Centre for Avian Population Studies. I’m a tenured assistant professor (https://www.ru.nl/english/people/jongejans-e/) at the Radboud University in Nijmegen, and since 2021 an Honorary Fellow at NIOO.
