An intern position in the TE department of NIOO, working on the EU Soil Missions Horizon 2020 project, "Integrating Soil Biodiversity into Ecosystem Services (SOB4ES). The position will involve the use standardised approaches for soil health monitoring efforts by evaluating spatial and temporal dynamics across land-use types and intensities ( www.sob4es.eu). This internship will assist in generating primary data in the form of community compositions of mites and springtails with molecular approaches such as DNA extraction, PCR amplification and non-invasive approaches to soil biodiversity monitoring using AI machine learning and setting up eco-acoustic recording sample library. Based on rigorous sample quality, standardised approaches and development of the approach will be experimentally optimised. If this sounds exciting, do reach out and send your CV to come and develop your lab and experimental design skills at the NIOO-KNAW!
