Description of study site The botanical garden of the Petrozavodsk State University is located on the shore of the Petrozavodsk Bay of Lake Onega and has an area of more than 300 hectares. The collection of woody plants is represented by 212 species, 96 cultivars. Leading families: rose (Rosaceae; 64 species), pine (Pinaceae; 28 species) and willow (Sallicaceae; 26 species). By their origin, woody plants are located in three sectors: European, North American, and Asian. The study area also includes pine forests with a small interspersing of deciduous trees in the undergrowth, characteristic of the region.
