Usutuvirus voor het eerst in merels en laplanduilen in Nederland
Het Usutuvirus is voor het eerst vastgesteld in Nederland. Het virus is zowel bij gehouden laplanduilen (Strix nebulosa) als bij wilde, dode en levende, merels (Turdus merula) gevonden. Dit melden verschillende onderzoeksorganisaties - waaronder het DWHC, Erasmus MC en het Vogeltrekstation van het NIOO. Het Usutuvirus is een vogelvirus dat al geruime tijd elders in Europa voorkomt.
