I am part of the MiRA (Microbial Induced Resistance to Agricultural Pests) Marie-Curie ITN. My PhD project focuses on root-beneficial microbe interactions of tomato plants under herbivory stress (Spodoptera exigua). During my PhD I covered various topics:
- Screening for beneficial microbes that can induce systemic resistance against insect pests under different experimental conditions
- Impact of microbial inoculants (single species and synthetic community) on native rhizosphere communities.
- Impact of microbial inoculants on rhizosphere volatilome, with special focus on roots colonized by arbsucular mycorrhiza fungi.
- Genetic and methodological dependency of root volatilome characterization under herbivory stress
