We will have a 30-minute talk and discussion with scientists every third Thursday of the month at three o’clock. Topics: the overlap and gaps in research approaches, multidisciplinary collaboration, funding, and more. You can watch it live and ask questions on YouTube, or watch it later on.
For this third episode, we'll be taking a look on the wild side. Rewilding is hot, but what is it exactly and what do you have to take into account in order to really work? Rewilding professor Prof. Dr Liesbeth Bakker (NIOO-KNAW) and marine researcher plus 'oyster rewilder' Prof. Dr Katja Philippart (NIOZ) will be our guides of the day, sharing an overview of their work and discussing opportunities and challenges in biodiversity research.
On 29 September 2020 at the Gala of Biodiversity, the Centre of Excellence for Netherlands Biodiversity Research was established by the Netherlands Institute of Ecology (NIOO-KNAW), Naturalis Biodiversity Center, the Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ-NWO), and Westerdijk Fungal Biodiversity Institute of the KNAW.
The aim is to work together to significantly increase the integrated knowledge of Dutch biodiversity in all environments: on land, in fresh and saltwater, and from genes to ecosystems.
