In winter, the Netherlands harbours a large proportion of the arctic-nesting geese in Europe, and as such bears an international responsibility for these populations. In the last decennia, the white-fronted goose has dramatically increased in numbers, causing more and more conflicts with agriculture. In this project we incorporate a behaviour-based migration model into a population dynamical model in order to be able to evaluate management options, which reduce conflicts with farmers whilst safeguarding the population.
