Research Group:
Running period:
2018 to 2020

The aim of this research is to disentangle the effect of diversity on plant performance focusing on crop, early successional and mid successional plant species.

Diverse groups of soil biodiversity will be manipulated and their interactions and effects on plant performance will be tested. A major focus is on protists; their community composition will be investigated in the rhizosphere of many different plant species in the field. Furthermore, the diversity of protists will be manipulated spanning a diversity gradient from 10 to 100 different protist taxa- a manipulation of diversity so far unprecedented in scientific studies.
