On Wednesday 29 May, Marcelle Johnson will defend her PhD thesis, titled 'Why change a winning formula? On genome formula variation and evolution in cucumber mosaic virus'.

On Thursday April 4 we'll have the Farewell Symposium and reception for our long-time colleague Prof. Dr Wietse de Boer (Department of Microbial Ecology at NIOO and Wageningen University).

In November, a five-day course on microbial ecology & climate change will be organised on Schiermonnikoog. Our colleague Eiko Kuramae from the Department of Microbial Ecology and professor at Utrecht University is one of the organisers.

On Wednesday 27 March 2024, Ana Shein Lee Diaz will defend her PhD thesis, titled "Impact of microbial inoculants and microbial volatiles on belowground microbe-plant interactions", at Leiden University.

On 28 August 2023, Letusa Momesso will defend her PhD thesis, titled 'Steering crop yields, soil nitrogen processes and the microbiome in tropical agriculture system: the role of forage grass cover crops'.
