Aquaculture is the fastest growing animal food production sector in the world and is an increasingly important contributor to global food supply. Currently, there are no commercial vaccines for fish parasites and the available diagnostic tools do not cover the main parasitic diseases or are not harmonised. The specific aim of this project is to identify and characterize new beneficial bacteria for disease management. More specifically, we will assess the activity of specific bacterial taxa against aquaculture pathogens, and perform genomic and functional analyses of bacterial taxa with anti-parasite effects.
