20-10-2014

Last week (12-17 October) several scientists from the Aquatic Ecology department of the NIOO visited the “Shallow Lakes Conference” in Antalya, Turkey. There were around 300 participants and it was a very successful meeting. The first three awards for the best presentation went to our PhD students,

  1. Luuk van Gerven: “Asymmetrical competition for light and nutrients in layered communities of Aquatic plants”
  2. Michiel Verhofstad; “Nuisance macrophyte species: An avoidable phase in restoration?” and
  3. Bart Grutters:  “Palatability and allelopathic effects of native and exotic macrophytes”.
