Departure of NIOO director and appointment of interim director

As of 1 October, current director Geert de Snoo will leave the Netherlands Institute of Ecology (NIOO-KNAW). He will then start his new position as director of research policy at the KNAW. De Snoo has been director of NIOO since 2019.

Wim van der Putten is appointed as interim director by the KNAW. He will officially start on 1 October. Van der Putten is no stranger to NIOO. Back in 1984 he started the research here for which he obtained his PhD in 1989, and since 2000 he has been head of the Terrestrial Ecology department.

By summer 2025, the KNAW expects to appoint a new director.
