NETLAKE Citizen Science is part of Networking Lake Observatories in Europe (NETLAKE) EU COST Action (ES 1201). The NETLAKE Citizen Science water quality survey focuses on the establishment of a Europe-wide citizen science initiative. This has two core areas: a local schools-based project (2014) and a citizen recorder project (2015-2016-2017). The citizen recorder project is carried out by citizens interested in their local lake with help from local scientists. Together they look at water temperature, water colour, decomposition, micro-plastics and sedimentation in 25 European lakes.

NETLAKE aims to build a network of sites and individuals to support the development and deployment of sensor-based systems in lakes and reservoirs, and promote their use to address both current and future water quality issues in Europe.

More information about the project can be found on the project website.
