PCLake is a dynamical food web model for shallow lakes. It has been developed to study the impact of eutrophication. The model shows alternative stable states with hysteresis in the switch from a phytoplankton dominated state to macrophyte dominated state. PCDitch is a dynamical food web model for linear waters. The model is derived from PCLake, the model for shallow lakes. The model shows alternative stable states with are dominated by submerged or floating plants. The aim of the current project is to improve several modules of these models and to make the model more applicable both in a scientific and an applied setting.
