Movie showing "The Dark Side of Bright Nights" during the Night of the Night

Visit the Night of the Night special on Saturday 25 October! Only then will the documentary The Dark Side of Bright Nights be shown throughout the Netherlands. 

In this stunning documentary, we follow scientists and experts conducting research into light pollution around the world. From insects in Germany to migratory birds above the Wadden Sea and animals in the Veluwe nature reserve, they all demonstrate how the disappearance of darkness is disrupting ecosystems. Researcher Kamiel Spoelstra from the Netherlands Institute of Ecology (NIOO-KNAW) is one of the researchers featured in the film. 

With breathtaking images and profound stories, The Dark Side of Bright Nights takes us on a journey through the night – and shows how important it is to restore natural darkness, for both humans and nature.
