At NIOO, I am part of the CLIMET project researching the microbial ecology of select greenlandic lakes. The focus of this will be on methanotrophic microorganisms and their impact on greenhouse gas emission and mitigation
I studied biochemistry, but from early on with a focus on microbial physiology, metabolism, and communities. I have worked with sulfate-reducing bacteria, on the electroactivity of anammox bacteria, and on the topic of arctic methane cycling and the diverse microbial communities involved in it. Now, at NIOO, I am part of the CLIMET project, which will go into depth on microbial methane oxidation in greenlandic lakes and on the microbial interactions supporting it. I am happy to be part of this interdisciplinary research team, and I hope the project will contribute to a better understanding of the emission and mitigation of methane from these ecosystems.
