How green will the next Dutch government be? In the only 'green' debate in the run-up to the March 15th elections, politicians, experts and business leaders will square off about themes that include biodiversity, nature management, animal welfare and agriculture. One of the guests is NIOO-director Louise Vet.
Almost all of the main Dutch parties' election programmes include ambitious passages about sustainability, climate, energy and natural resources.
But how realistic are those ambitions? And how passionate are the parties about them when push comes to shove...especially if there were to be another economic downturn in the future?
The main participants in the 'green' debate are the spokespersons on environmental policy for all the Dutch political parties currently represented in parliament, with the exception of the PVV.
Experts Louise Vet and Johan van de Gronden (IUCN NL) will introduce the themes. The debate will be presented by Dutch tv-celebrity Jort Kelder. Organisers are UICN NL and Naturalis Biodiversity Centre.
